1850, First Edition. London : published for the proprietor, and sold by all book and printsellers. Good copy only in contemporary gilt-decorated green cloth boards, now scuffed and dust-dulled. Corners bumped, with spine and panel edges worn; joints rubbed and slightly torn at the head, with spine cloth lacking at the tail. Both hinges starting, with free endpapers loose; contemporary calligraphic gift inscription (1854) to front free endpaper. Lacking original title page, retaining the engraved t.p. and dedication on either side; text block internally strong, with text and plates complete, retaining tissue guards. Plates show light foxing to the margins; facing leaves show some faint offsetting as expected. A very serviceable example overall. Item #473351
