1876, First Imperial Edition. London : Virtue & Co., Limited. Very good copies both in half aniline calf over fine-ribbed cloth-covered boards. Gilt blocked title to spine with raised bands; spine compartments uniformly tooled in gilt. Both volumes slightly dust-dulled and rubbed as with age; corners somewhat worn on volume 1. Hinges a little weak; (unsurprising given the hefty weight). Volume 1 pages 423-4 and volume 2 pages 223-4 loose. Vivid, well-preserved marbled endpapers. Some small smudges and faint foxing to margins, but pages overall bright and clean. A well-preserved set overall. Text in double columns and within plain borders. Item #449449
